Environment and Sustainability

Wedderburn recognises businesses have an important role to play in protecting the environment. We have introduced a number of initiatives to reduce our environmental impact. For our customers, we offer a range of products and services to help you reduce your environmental footprint. If you want further information on any of our initiatives, please don't hesitate to contact us.

FSC® and PEFC Certification

Committed to sustainability, Wedderburn holds both Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certification. Our dual certification provides you with independent assurance that the wood used to make the paper in the labels, wraps and tags we supply is legally and sustainably sourced. Customers can select from a wide range of FSC and PEFC certified materials as the base for their label and packaging products.

RafCycle™

In 2008 Raflatac, a subsidiary of United Paper Mills, introduced “RafCycle™” – a program that turns label waste into reusable resources.

Committed to industry leadership, Wedderburn became the first Australian partner of RafCycle™ in 2018. Through our program participation, Wedderburn is working towards The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals of zero waste to landfill by 2030. All Wedderburn label and wrap customers are invited to join.

Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation

The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) is a not for profit organisation leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia. Wedderburn is one of the 1,600 APCO members that share a common agenda - a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of their packaging. Wedderburn is committed to:

  • Integrating our packaging sustainability strategy into business policies and processes
  • Regularly monitoring quantifiable outcomes of your closed loop collaborations, and identifying areas for further improvement within existing or new initiatives
  • Improving packaging sustainability
  • Reporting annually to APCO on our achievements and future initiatives
