RafCycle™ Recycling Program
Recycle your label backing liner and join the circular economy

Liner cannot be recycled through standard paper recycling channels because it has a silicone coating to ensure labels release for application. No amount of silicone is currently accepted in Australian or New Zealand recycling streams.
At the purpose built RafCycle™ plant, the silicone coating is stripped from the liner and used for power, while the liner is recycled into a new high-quality resource, such as graphic art paper or new liner. Taking into account the impact of shipping the labels to Germany, the RafCycle™ program is still 12-18% less emissions intensive than sending liner to landfill. With every 100 tonnes of liner you recycle, you can make 1,300 trees available for other uses. Most importantly, in the RafCycle™ program, liner can be recycled up to 7 times before it is recycled with lost value.
Why recycle your liner?
1. Costs
Wedderburn subsidises the program to ensure it’s cost neutral for our customers, when compared to traditional landfill costs. Get in touch today and we will analyse your current landfill costs and help you smoothly transition to the RafCycle™ program.
2. Reporting
Declare the diversion as part of your recycling implementation plan to meet the 2025 National Packaging Targets. We provide full traceability back to the RafCycle™ plant in Germany.
3. Enhance your green credentials
Promote your participation in the circular economy. A company that recycles approximately 100 tonnes of liner, re-purposes up to 1300 trees.
Total amount of liner waste recycled with RafCycle™ between 2014 and 2021 equals to
The weight of over two Eiffel Towers
280 000 trees left for other uses

641 long-haul flights worth of CO2e emissions avoided compared with landfill
